Essex's county town, Chelmsford sits on the rivers Chelmer and Can, some thirty two miles from the centre of London. The town has got a populace of approximately 110,000 residents, while the Borough of Chelmsford has approximately 168,000.

The 17th Cent witnessed more executions as the"Witchfinder General" Matthew Hopkins, put on trial and hanged many presumed witches.
