The county town of Essex, Chelmsford can be found on the Chelmer and Can rivers, some 32 mls from the centre of London. The town has got a population of about 111,000 occupants, whilst the Borough of Chelmsford has approximately 168,300.

Chelmsford is a historic town that was the location of a Roman fortification in around 60 AD. Chelmsford's parish church St Mary the Virgin was changed into a cathedral in 1914. The town is twinned with Backnang (Germany) and Annonay (France).
