Essex's county town, Chelmsford is set upon the Can and Chelmer rivers, a driving distance of around 32 mls from central London. The town has got a populace of some one hundred and eleven thousand occupants, and the Borough of Chelmsford has around 168,000.

The town entered a time of decline in the 1980's, because a lot of its manufacturing facilities went bust, all the same it remains a successful and blooming town today, for the most part because of its nearness to the capital, plus its first class road and rail communications.
