Essex's county town, Chelmsford can be found upon the Can and Chelmer rivers, about 32 mls from central London. The town boasts a populace of approximately 111,500 inhabitants, whereas the Borough of Chelmsford has about 168,000.

In the 14th C some of the locals of Chelmsford participated in the 1381 Peasant Revolt, some of the main agitators were accordingly put to death in the town after Richard the Second ended the insurrection.
