Essex's county town, Chelmsford can be found on the Chelmer and Can rivers, about thirty two miles from the city of London. The town has got a populace of about one hundred and eleven thousand inhabitants, and the Borough of Chelmsford has around 168,000.

At the time of the 13th Cent, it became the county town of Essex and additionally became the seat of the local assize. Chelmsford moved into a time of decline during the 1980's, as a high percentage of its industry ceased to be profitable, in spite of this it continues to be a successful and developing town today, mainly due to its close proximity to the city of london, and its good rail and road communications.
